Things to Consider When Traveling to Downtown Denver

Many of our guests traveling from sea level prefer to stay overnight in downtown Denver to acclimate to the elevation. Whether your traveling to ski resorts, the elevation is higher than the Mile High City (a factor of 2000+ extra feet elevation gain).

We offer private shuttle and car service from downtown Denver to various ski resorts in Colorado such as Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge, and Steamboat Springs.

How much does it cost to get from Vail to Denver?

There are several ways to get to Vail from Denver, let's explore 3 options:
  • Uber/Lyft: This is usually a last minute option, prices range from $200 - $550 during the week and there is no guarantee that a driver will accept the trip.
  • Ridesharing - Airport Shuttles: $130 per person, shared with strangers. This option requires several stops to different locations depending the the number of groups present in the shuttle. This can significantly increase travel time.
  • Private SUV/Shuttle: Mr. Chauffeur's rates are $600 (up to 6 passengers) - $1200 (up to 14 passengers; executive van) gratuity included. This option is the most streamlined with a direct transfer to/from Vail and priority car service.

Peak Season Travel Recommendations

The ski season for Winter 2022-2023 starts November 19th - April 21st. We are anticipating a busy holiday season (Christmas December 18th - January 11th), Presidents Week (February 16th - 26th), and Spring Break (the entire month of March). We highly recommend reserving your private shuttle (Van, SUV, or Car) in advance to ensure a successful trip to the Ski Resorts.

Private car service DIA to Vail through these dates is on a first-come first-serve basis; reserve your trip as soon a possible to ensure that you have a ride to/from the airport. We do not recommend booking last minute because most if not all companies will not have availability.

Denver to Vail Private Shuttle & Limo Service

While traveling from Denver to Vail, you may experience hazardous driving conditions on unfamiliar roads and winding mountain passes. On a fair weather day, expect a travel time of 2.5 - 3 hours. However, when hazardous conditions are present, expect 3 - 5+ hours of travel time.

By hazardous driving conditions we mean:
1. Icy & Snowy Roads
2. Inexperienced Drivers
3. Vehicles Without Winter Tires
4. Poor Visibility
5. Heavy Snow. We check with Colorado Avalanche Information Center for the most up to date reports on snow danger. Avalanches have occurred on this route before, namely 10 Mile Canyon. CDOT will occasionally perform avalanche mitigation to keep roads safe.
6. Rapidly Changing Weather Conditions: The weather in the mountains can change without notice and actual weather can be totally different from what was in the forecast.

There are several choke points on the route from Denver to Vail:
1. Vail Pass: 6% downhill grade for 9 miles, 2 lanes of traffic.
2. Continental Divide at Eisenhower & Johnson Tunnels

When you choose Mr. Chauffeur, you will have peace of mind because all of our drivers are trained to handle the hazardous driving conditions listed above. Our team is very knowledgeable about traffic patterns throughout the day for the route between Denver and Vail.

We provide the #1  top rated car service from Denver to Vail CO as well as other major ski area (Breckenridge, Aspen, Beaver Creek, and Steamboat Springs).

When getting picked up from the airport, our chauffeurs will keep track your flight status and make the necessary adjustments in case there are any delays or early arrivals.

When traveling to the airport, we recommend booking at least 5 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure time on fair weather days, however on Sundays and snowy days, we recommend booking further in advance.
